We are pleased to inform all the interested parties that on 1 September 2011 the provisions of Article 3 and 4 of the Amendments to the Act on the Recognition of Foreign Educational Qualifications (Official Gazette No. 45/2011) shall come into force.

Foreign education qualification of finished primary or secondary education, parts of education and different types of professional qualification and upgrading for certain jobs and professions are recognized by the Ministry of science, education and sport based on the Act on foreign education qualification recognition (“Narodne novine” issue 158/03 and 198/03) that has been in force in the Republic of Croatia since 1 July 2004.

What does recognition mean?

Validation is a form of evaluating particular foreign education qualification, by which the value of foreign education qualification of finished primary or secondary education, ways of professional qualification and upgrading for certain jobs and professions, and of foreign education qualifications of a part of primary or secondary foreign education, issued by a foreign education institution which is recognized in the country of its issuing as a part of the country’s educational system, is formally approved.

Professional recognition implies the recognition of the equal legal validity of a foreign educational qualification and the corresponding education qualification in the Republic of Croatia, with the purpose of making the employment and/or further education possible in the Republic of Croatia.

If in The Republic of Croatia the profession acquired by foreign education qualification does not exist, the corresponding professional title of a related profession will be recognized by the foreign education qualification recognition procedure. Validation of a part of primary or secondary foreign education implies the equalization between that part of education and the appropriate part of primary or secondary education in the Republic of Croatia, with the purpose or continuing primary or secondary education in the Republic of Croatia.

What is a foreign education qualification?

It is a report card, diploma, or some other public document about finished primary or secondary education, and about different ways of professional qualification and upgrading for certain professions and jobs, acquired abroad.

VALIDATION OF FOREIGN PUBLIC DOCUMENTS ABOUT A PART OF PRIMARY OR SECONDARY EDUCATION

What is a foreign public document about a part of primary or secondary education?

It is a foreign report card, student’s card, certificate, certificate of withdrawal or some other public document that proves that the student finished a grade, or a term, abroad, or that he/she attended a class/classes at a primary or secondary school abroad.

This recognition equates foreign public documents with Croatian documents and makes the continuation of education in the corresponding class of primary or secondary school in the Republic of Croatia possible.
